A fruit update from Tom:
Victorias are fantastic now, very easy picking. Lancelot, apriums and greengages are gone but big plums like Guinivere, Hagenta, Hanita and others are just coming in and the late Topend and Tophit should take us through most of September.
Damsons are good now (much earlier than usual) but the crop is light so get them soon.
Estival apples are eating beautifully. A different experience eating fresh apples rather than ones that have been stored for months. Perfect for getting the kids hooked on fresh fruit.
It may not seem like autumn yet but Bramley apples are now good for picking so plan your apple pies!
Cobnuts are getting a good flavour and the race with the squirrels is on! Addicts know that the opportunity must be taken.
The rain has at last stimulated the autumn raspberries to start ripening. A bit crumbly, but great flavour.
Ice cream flavour: tayberry. When it’s gone it’s gone.
We hope to see you soon!
